The Spaniard drops just three games to advance. Vavassori continues in doubles, Arnaldi progresses in Dallas

Carlos Alcaraz showcased his dominance once again, securing a 6-2 6-1 victory over Andrea Vavassori to reach the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 in Rotterdam. The Italian, primarily a doubles specialist, struggled to keep up with the relentless pace of the world No. 2, who mirrored his straight-sets victory from last year’s Buenos Aires quarterfinals.

Alcaraz wasted no time imposing his game, breaking Vavassori in the opening game and dictating play from the baseline. The Italian managed to hold serve for 2-1, but found himself under constant pressure. The Spaniard fended off a break point in the fourth game before securing another break to go 5-2 up, eventually wrapping up the first set 6-2.

In the second set, Vavassori initially held serve but was soon overwhelmed by Alcaraz’s intensity. A break in the third game shifted the momentum entirely, and another break at 4-1 sealed the Italian’s fate, with Alcaraz closing out the set 6-1 in commanding fashion.

Despite his singles exit, Vavassori remains in the tournament in doubles, teaming up with Simone Bolelli to take on the pair Schnaitter-Wallner.

Meanwhile, Mattia Bellucci is gearing up for his quarterfinal match against Stefanos Tsitsipas, following his stunning victory over Daniil Medvedev. The Italian, who recently climbed to No. 76 in the ATP rankings, will face the Greek star, who eliminated Tallon Griekspoor—the same player who knocked out Matteo Berrettini. Their match is scheduled no earlier than 2:30 PM.

On the other side of the Atlantic, Matteo Arnaldi continues his impressive run in Dallas, where he defeated Davidovich Fokina with a solid 6-1 6-3 win to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.
