The Norwegian team dominated the slalom event on the Gran Risa in Alta Badia. Tim Haugan delivered a flawless performance, matching his fastest time from the first run and finishing over a second ahead of his competitors. This victory marks the 24-year-old’s second World Cup win, following his triumph in Saalbach last year.
Behind him, Loic Meillard impressed with a remarkable comeback from eighth position, finishing second at +1.13 despite ongoing back issues. The podium was completed by Atle Lie McGrath (+1.26), with fellow Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen in fourth (+1.31), solidifying his position as the slalom leader.
The race, marking the return of the slalom event to Alta Badia after four years, featured a thrilling second run. Frenchman Clément Noël, still recovering from an ankle injury, placed sixth (+1.89), while mistakes from Samu Kolega and Steven Amiez, who had been fourth after the first run, reshuffled the standings.
The Italian team struggled to shine: Simon Maurberger was their best performer in 21st place (+3.69), followed by Tobias Kastlunger in 24th (+4.28). Meanwhile, Lucas Braathen climbed to 12th place in a bid for redemption.
In the overall World Cup standings, Henrik Kristoffersen closed the gap to Swiss skier Marco Odermatt, now trailing by 71 points (469 to 540). The competition will resume after the Christmas break in Bormio, with a downhill and super-G scheduled on the Stelvio on December 28 and 29.
