The Louis Vuitton Cup, a highly prestigious international sailing competition, is in full swing in the waters of Barcelona, with races taking place just 24 hours after the previous regatta.
In the last outing, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli achieved a crucial victory by defeating Alinghi Red Bull Racing, taking the lead in the competition standings.
Today marks the return leg of the Round Robin, where teams face off in a series of preliminary races that will determine the entries to the semifinals and finals. The team that accumulates the most points in the round robin will directly qualify for the final stage.
A challenging day lies ahead for the current leader Luna Rossa, which will face Orient Express and the team to beat, New Zealand. Although New Zealand is excluded from the competition standings as the "defender" of the title won in 2021 and already qualified for the final, this adds pressure on Luna Rossa.
The day becomes even more demanding for Luna Rossa as, in the previous three regattas between the preliminary tournament and round robin, the Italian crew has yet to defeat the New Zealand "Kiwi" team.
However, the Italian team has won all its other four races so far and is firmly in first place.
