The reigning China Open champion will debut against Chilean Nicolas Jarry. Alcaraz will face Frenchman Mpetshi Perricard

The ATP 500 Beijing tournament is set to take place from Thursday, September 26, to Wednesday, October 2. All eyes are on Jannik Sinner as he returns to the court. After his triumph at the US Open (winning 3-0 in the final with scores of 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 against American Taylor Fritz), the world number one will compete again in the China Open. Last year, the South Tyrolean, a rising star in international tennis, defeated Russia's Daniil Medvedev in the final with a score of 7-6, 7-6.

A total of 32 players will compete in Beijing. To reach the tournament final and claim the title, five victories will be required. The total prize money for the tournament is €3,347,869, with the winner earning 500 valuable ranking points.

The prize money is distributed as follows: First Round (€25,967, 0 points); Second Round (€48,690, 50 points); Quarterfinals (€91,219, 100 points); Semifinals (€178,540, 200 points); Finalist (€335,019, 330 points). The winner will receive €622,668 and 500 points.

Sinner will make his debut against Chilean Nicolas Jarry. The two have only met once before, with Jarry emerging victorious, defeating the Italian 6-7, 3-6 on June 11, 2019, at the ATP tournament in s-Hertogenbosch (Netherlands). Jarry, a finalist at the Internazionali d’Italia in Rome (defeated 2-0 by Germany’s Alexander Zverev) on May 19, is coming off six losses in his last seven ATP circuit matches.

Alcaraz, on the other hand, will face Frenchman Mpetshi Perricard. As for the tournament draw, Sinner could meet Lorenzo Musetti in the semifinals. With Zverev's withdrawal, Sinner's main rival, Carlos Alcaraz, ended up in the other half of the draw. A potential showdown between these two tennis prodigies could only happen in the final. Other Italians in the draw include Lorenzo Musetti, Flavio Cobolli, and Lorenzo Sonego. The WTA women's tournament in Beijing will also kick off, featuring Italians Jasmine Paolini, Elisabetta Cocciaretto, Lucia Bronzetti, and Martina Trevisan.
