Lorenzo Musetti’s journey ended in the semifinals at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, an ATP 500 tournament played on indoor hard courts. The Italian was defeated by Britain’s Jack Draper in two sets, 6-2, 6-4, after a battle lasting an hour and 50 minutes. Draper, currently ranked 18th in the world, now advances to the final where he will face Khachanov. Despite the loss, Musetti celebrates a rise to 16th in the ATP rankings.
Meanwhile, Lucia Bronzetti also saw her hopes of reaching the final dashed, exiting in the semifinals at the Guangzhou Open in China. The Rimini-born player, ranked 84th globally, was defeated by American Caroline Dolehide (WTA No. 101) with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(9). Bronzetti missed four match points in the decisive tie-break, narrowly missing her chance at the final.
On Berrettini’s side, following his quarterfinal loss in Vienna, the Italian announced on social media that he has parted ways with Spanish coach Francisco Roig, with whom he had collaborated for less than a year. Ranked 34th globally, Berrettini is scheduled to face Australian Alexei Popyrin in the first round of the Masters 1000 in Paris-Bercy on Monday.
