The 2025 MotoGP World Championship kicked off in grand style with a historic event in Bangkok, turning the city into the ultimate two-wheel capital for a day. For the first time ever, all teams and riders gathered for a stunning season launch, setting the stage for an action-packed year that will officially begin in Buriram from February 28 to March 2. Inspired by Formula 1’s upcoming London launch on February 18, the event blended spectacle and excitement, giving fans a thrilling preview of what’s to come.
The day started with a spectacular parade through Bangkok’s streets, with MotoGP stars making their entrance aboard the city’s iconic tuk-tuks before switching to their street bikes for a ride through the capital. Among the standout moments was Fabio Quartararo’s tire-smoking burnout, leaving behind a thick cloud of white smoke to the delight of the crowd.
An outdoor stage then became the focal point, where riders connected with fans, fueling anticipation for the season ahead. Defending champion Francesco Bagnaia shared his excitement: "This event is amazing, the energy from the fans is incredible. After the Sepang test, I feel ready, but we still need to make a few key decisions in Buriram to fine-tune the bike, which is already fantastic."
Beside him stood the biggest shake-up of 2025: Marc Márquez, gearing up for his Ducati debut. "It’s great to be here, the reception is fantastic. I really like the Buriram circuit, and I can’t wait to get back on track for testing and embrace this new challenge."
However, one key figure was missing from the celebrations: reigning world champion Jorge Martin, now with Aprilia, who was absent due to injury. In a video message, he reassured fans: "I wish I could be there, but I’m working hard to recover and be ready for the first race in Thailand."
Wrapping up the event, Ducati’s technical director Gigi Dall’Igna dismissed concerns over having two elite riders like Bagnaia and Márquez in the same team: "It won’t be a problem. They’re both incredibly fast and smart, and that will help us manage the situation. Our priority now is to build the best possible bike to fight for wins and the championship."
All eyes now turn to the Buriram test sessions on February 12-13, the first real test before the lights go out for the official start of the 2025 season.
