Barcelona will not be able to register Dani Olmo's contract during the winter transfer window due to restrictions imposed by La Liga. The Spanish football federation announced that the club has failed to comply with financial fair play regulations and has not presented alternative solutions to address the issue before the January 2 deadline.
The Spanish forward, who joined from RB Leipzig in the summer, now faces an uncertain future. A recent court ruling against Barcelona has blocked any chance of registering his contract before the end of 2024 without further intervention. The club required an additional financial lever to meet La Liga’s requirements, but without approval from the football authorities or legal support, the deal cannot proceed.
According to Spanish media, Barcelona is exploring alternative strategies, such as selling VIP packages at the Camp Nou, which is currently under renovation, to generate sufficient revenue to register both Olmo and forward Pau Víctor. However, the risk of losing Olmo on a free transfer at the end of the season remains a significant threat, representing both a financial and reputational setback for the Catalan giants.
