Barça win 3-0 but lose Dani Olmo to injury, Simeone’s men draw at Espanyol, while Real Sociedad edge past Valladolid

Barcelona tightened their grip on the top of La Liga with a convincing 3-0 win over Osasuna, but the night was marred by an injury to Dani Olmo. The Spanish playmaker had opened the scoring from the penalty spot before limping off midway through the first half. Ferran Torres and Robert Lewandowski added to the tally, sealing a result that moves Barça to 63 points, three ahead of Real Madrid and six in front of Atletico Madrid.

Coach Hansi Flick, whose team remains unbeaten since late 2024, voiced concern about the injury to Olmo: “He’ll be out for a few games. With so many matches, it was bound to happen,” he told Movistar+. The timing is far from ideal, with a crucial Copa del Rey semifinal against Atletico looming.

Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, failed to bounce back from consecutive defeats, drawing 1-1 with Espanyol. Azpilicueta put Simeone’s side ahead, but a second-half penalty from Puado denied them the win. The Colchoneros now sit third with 57 points, trailing Real Madrid by three and Barça by six.

Elsewhere, Real Sociedad picked up a vital 2-1 win over Valladolid, thanks to goals from Oyarzabal and Sergio Gomez. Latasa had briefly drawn the visitors level, but the Basque side held firm to climb to 38 points, keeping their European hopes alive.
