No coaches were sacked after the fourth round, but some benches are beginning to wobble due to a disappointing start to the season. The most at risk is undoubtedly Eusebio Di Francesco, currently in charge of Venezia. The team from the lagoon city is last in the standings with one draw and three defeats in the first four matches, the most recent being a humiliating loss at San Siro against Milan.
The Abruzzo coach has struggled in recent years to replicate the successes he had at Roma and Sassuolo, with dismissals at Sampdoria and Cagliari, relegation with Frosinone, and now a poor start with Venezia.
Cesc Fabregas is also not having the best time; his Como side squandered their first win of the season against Bologna, allowing a 2-0 lead to slip to a 2-2 draw in stoppage time. Despite significant investment in the transfer market aimed at achieving a comfortable survival, Como’s start suggests otherwise. Similarly, Davide Nicola's start has been forgettable; last year's savior at Empoli, he has now led Cagliari to a disappointing defeat against Napoli.
Daniele De Rossi is also at risk. De Winter's goal delayed Roma’s first win of the season, with the 1-1 draw at Ferraris and the 2-1 defeat against Empoli at the Olimpico in the second round proving painful. In the capital, on the Giallorossi side, signings like Dobvyk, Hermoso, Hummels, Saelemaekers, and Koné have given Roma the tools to compete for top positions, but a turnaround is needed. Otherwise, a change on the bench could soon become a reality.
