Matteo Berrettini’s run at Indian Wells comes to an early end as he falls to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the third round. The Italian struggled to keep up with the Greek star, who controlled the match and closed it out in just over an hour with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
However, the biggest shock of the tournament so far came from Novak Djokovic, who was eliminated in his opening match by lucky loser Botic van de Zandschulp. The Dutchman delivered a stunning performance, defeating the 24-time Grand Slam champion 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 to advance.
On the brighter side, Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi pulled off a major upset, beating seventh seed Andrey Rublev (6-4, 7-5), while world No.3 Carlos Alcaraz comfortably defeated Quentin Halys (6-4, 6-2).
In the women’s draw, Jasmine Paolini and Lucia Bronzetti both secured spots in the third round. Paolini edged past young American Jovic in a three-set battle, while Bronzetti dispatched Poland’s Frech in straight sets. Next, Paolini will face Cristian, while Bronzetti faces a tough challenge against world No.2 Aryna Sabalenka.
