Bayern Munich will have to wait a little longer before securing their Bundesliga crown. Despite a comfortable 3-0 victory over Mainz at the Allianz Arena, the German giants couldn’t seal the title as Bayer Leverkusen kept their slim hopes alive with a win against Augsburg.
With just three matches remaining and an 8-point gap between the two teams, Bayern still holds a commanding advantage—especially considering their significantly better goal difference—but they’ll need at least one more point to make it official.
The match in Munich started with an early scare from Mainz’s Burkardt, but Bayern quickly took control. Leroy Sané broke the deadlock in the 27th minute with a right-footed strike into the bottom corner, followed by a second goal from Olise just before halftime. The Bavarians managed the game comfortably in the second half, with Sané hitting the woodwork twice before Eric Dier sealed the result in the closing minutes with a header from a corner.
Meanwhile, Leverkusen did their part by defeating Augsburg 2-0 thanks to first-half goals from Schick and Buendia, ensuring that the title race remains mathematically open—though the odds are firmly against them.
The fight for European qualification also saw dramatic developments. Borussia Dortmund claimed a last-gasp 3-2 victory away at Hoffenheim, with Anton netting the decisive goal deep into stoppage time. Elsewhere, Kiel edged Borussia Mönchengladbach in a thrilling 4-3 encounter, and Freiburg capitalized on Leipzig’s heavy 4-0 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt, moving into fourth place with a narrow 1-0 win over Wolfsburg.
