Mayor Sala confirms ongoing talks with Inter and local authorities to host fans at the stadium for the match in Munich

Milan could turn San Siro into a second home for Inter fans on May 31, as the city explores the possibility of installing a giant screen at the stadium to broadcast the Champions League final between Inter and PSG, set to be played in Munich.

Mayor Giuseppe Sala revealed the initiative during an interview with RTL 102.5, explaining that discussions are underway with both the club and the local prefecture. “It’s not official yet, but the intention is there. We’re looking at San Siro as a way to offer fans a safer and more controlled environment to enjoy the game,” Sala said.

A long-time Inter supporter himself, Sala joked about possibly missing the final: “There’s an ongoing negotiation at home — my partner’s birthday is the next day, so we’ll see.”

Speaking later at the centennial celebration of the Italian Air Force in Milan’s Piazza Duomo, Sala elaborated: “San Siro is easier to manage from a public safety standpoint, and the square can’t accommodate as many people. I believe this is a good idea, and one the prefecture is willing to support.”

He also recalled a previous big screen experience with mixed emotions: “Last time we did this, I was in Istanbul and it didn’t go so well. But I think this is a project worth pursuing.”
