It’s Champions League time – even in the heart of summer. The second-leg ties of the second qualifying round are set to be played, as the race to join the historic single-league format heats up. Twenty-nine of the 36 spots in the league stage are already filled: Inter are locked into Pot 1, while Juventus and Atalanta will feature in Pot 2, and Napoli in Pot 3.
All eyes are on Panathinaikos v Rangers, with the Scottish side holding a 2–0 advantage from the first leg, and on Viktoria Plzen v Servette, after the Swiss club edged the opening tie 1–0.
Meanwhile, Benfica, Club Brugge, Feyenoord, Fenerbahçe and Nice have already secured passage to the third qualifying round. Basel, Bodø/Glimt, Sturm Graz and Celtic will enter the competition directly at the play-off stage.
