Another dramatic day at the Club World Cup saw Chelsea and Flamengo take care of business with comfortable 2–0 victories, while Boca Juniors and Benfica delivered one of the most eventful matches of the tournament so far.
Enzo Maresca's Chelsea got past Los Angeles FC thanks to a goal in each half. Pedro Neto opened the scoring in the 34th minute, and Enzo Fernández sealed the win with a strike in the 79th.
There was far more chaos in the Boca Juniors–Benfica showdown. The Argentinians stormed to a 2–0 lead within 27 minutes, with goals from Merentiel and Battaglia. Right before halftime, Ander Herrera was shown a red card, and Ángel Di María pulled one back from the penalty spot. Belotti was also sent off, but that didn’t stop Nicolás Otamendi from equalizing in the 84th minute. Boca's Figal was the third player to receive a red card in a heated encounter.
In contrast, Flamengo's debut was a calmer affair. On the day of Jorginho’s first appearance with the club, the Brazilians beat Esperance 2–0. De Arrascaeta scored in the 17th minute, with Araujo adding the second in the 70th.
