The new Club World Cup kicked off with plenty of spectacle, even if the opening match fell short of expectations. Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, in fact, was held to a goalless draw by Al Ahly.
However, in the following games, fans were more than satisfied. Bayern Munich demolished Auckland City with a resounding 10–0 win, featuring goals from Coman (2), Boey, Olise (2), Müller (2), and Musiala (3). Perhaps the most resounding result, though, was PSG’s 4–0 victory over Atletico Madrid. The goals came from Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha, Mayulu, and Lee—the latter two scored while the Colchoneros were down to ten men after Lenglet was sent off.
Palmeiras drew 0–0 with Porto, while Botafogo edged Seattle Sounders. Cunha and Igor Jesus secured the win in the first half, rendering Roldan’s goal meaningless. Between tonight and early tomorrow morning, Chelsea face Los Angeles FC (9 PM), Boca Juniors take on Benfica (midnight), and Flamengo meet Esperance (3 AM).
