Italy and Turkey will host the premier European football competition.

In 2032, Italy will co-host the continental competition with Turkey. The peninsula, a land of poets, saints, and navigators, will once again host a major football tournament after the 1990 World Cup.

This could be a great opportunity to rejuvenate the outdated stadiums in many Italian cities. Each nation must select five venues by 2026. Minister Abodi has already announced that three cities are guaranteed to host Euro matches: Rome, Turin, and Milan.

This leaves two slots open. In an initial list submitted to UEFA, the chosen cities were Verona, Genoa, Bologna, Florence, Naples, Bari, and Cagliari. However, with the joint hosting arrangement with Turkey, the selection criteria changed, resulting in a significant reduction in the number of candidate cities.

Naples appears to be in pole position to be one of the venues, with the Maradona Stadium potentially hosting Euro matches. Alongside the Fuorigrotta stadium, the other confirmed venues would be the Meazza-San Siro, the Olimpico, and the Allianz Stadium. The Maradona Stadium, which underwent significant renovations for the 2019 Naples Universiade, might see further upgrades within the required timeframe.
