Italy has learned its path for the upcoming EuroBasket 2025, which will take place from August 27 to September 14. The draw, held in Riga, placed the Azzurri in a challenging Group C, set to be played in Limassol, Cyprus.
The Italian team will face reigning champions Spain, coached by Sergio Scariolo, and Greece, who could feature NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. Also in the group are host nation Cyprus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Georgia, potentially led by seasoned forward Toko Shengelia.
The format remains the same: the top four teams in each group will advance to the knockout stage, with Italy likely to face a side from Group D, which includes powerhouses like France, Slovenia, and Poland.
Head coach Gianmarco Pozzecco urged caution in early predictions: “It's too soon to speculate. Rosters will make a big difference. What I can say is we’ll approach the tournament with full commitment and pride in representing Italy. It’s a demanding group, but also one that fuels our competitive spirit.”
