Following the Champions League, the brand-new 2024/25 Europa League is also taking shape, featuring two Italian teams, Roma and Lazio. The opponents for the first phase of the competition, structured as a single group with eight matches for each team - four at home and four away - have been drawn.
Roma’s opponents at home will be Eintracht Frankfurt, Braga, Dynamo Kyiv, and Athletic Club, while the Giallorossi will face Tottenham, AZ Alkmaar, Union Saint-Gilloise, and Elfsborg away. Lazio will host Porto, Real Sociedad, Ludogorets, and Nice at the Stadio Olimpico, and travel to face Ajax, Braga, Dynamo Kyiv, and Twente.
Tottenham, one of the favorites to win the competition alongside Manchester United, will face Roma, Rangers, Alkmaar, Ferencvaros, Qarabag, Elfsborg, Galatasaray, and Hoffenheim. Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United has been drawn against Rangers, Porto, PAOK, Fenerbahce, Bodoe/Glimt, Viktoria Plzen, Twente, and Steaua.
Rangers’ eight opponents include Tottenham, Manchester United, Lyon, Olympiakos, Union Saint-Gilloise, Malmo, Fotbal Club FCSB, and Nice. Eintracht Frankfurt will take on Slavia Prague, Roma, Ferencvaros, Lyon, Viktoria Plzen, Midtjylland, RFS, and Besiktas.
Porto’s opponents will be Manchester United, Lazio, Olympiakos, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Midtjylland, Bodoe/Glimt, Hoffenheim, and Anderlecht. Finally, Slavia Prague will face Ajax, Eintracht Frankfurt, Fenerbahce, PAOK, Malmo, Ludogorets, Anderlecht, and Athletic Club.
Ajax, led by Farioli, will compete against Lazio, Slavia Prague, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Real Sociedad, Galatasaray, Qarabag, Besiktas, and RFS. The first matchday is scheduled for September 25-26, with the group stage concluding on January 30, 2025.
