Chaos reigned at Silverstone as rain, crashes, and penalties shaped the British Grand Prix. McLaren dominated once again, with Lando Norris claiming his first-ever home victory. The British driver capitalised on a mistake from teammate Oscar Piastri, who led much of the race but was handed a ten-second penalty under the Safety Car. Nico Hulkenberg took a sensational third place, the 37-year-old German securing his first career podium after 239 races. Lewis Hamilton finished fourth for Ferrari, with Max Verstappen in fifth.
Speaking to the media after his win, Norris was emotional: “This is everything I ever dreamed of, everything I’ve always wanted apart from winning the World Championship. It’s the sweetest victory of my career. I’m so proud and I want to thank the fans; they made the difference today”.
Although he was effectively leading from lap 25, Norris only officially took the lead on lap 45 when Piastri served his penalty in the pits: “In that moment, your mind goes blank, and everything you thought about before disappears. The key is not to mess it up. In the final laps, I looked at the crowd, trying to soak in all the energy because a moment like this might never come again".
