Milos Teodosic, one of the most gifted and entertaining playmakers of modern basketball, has officially announced his retirement at the age of 38. In an emotional open letter, Teodosic reflected on a journey spanning over 20 years, expressing gratitude to his family, teammates, coaches, and fans who stood by him throughout his remarkable career.
“Dear friends, respected basketball enthusiasts and connoisseurs, first of all, thank you for 30 years of shared battles, joys, happiness, and pains. The time has come for me to say goodbye to a chapter of my love for this magical game played under the hoops. Behind me — behind us — are years filled with passion, struggle, and sacrifice. There were trophies won, but also finals lost. That is basketball, and that is life. I wouldn’t change a thing. I would do it all over again, exactly the same way.”
Born in Serbia, Teodosic began his professional career in 2004 and quickly rose to stardom, playing for some of Europe’s most prestigious clubs. After early years with Olympiacos in Greece, he became a cornerstone for CSKA Moscow, winning the EuroLeague in 2016 and earning EuroLeague MVP honors in 2010. Between 2017 and 2019, he made the leap to the NBA with the Los Angeles Clippers before returning to Europe with Virtus Bologna, where he left an indelible mark. He closed his career with Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade).
Teodosic also enjoyed a decorated run with the Serbian national team, winning three silver medals: at EuroBasket 2009, the 2014 FIBA World Cup, and the 2016 Rio Olympics. His trophy cabinet tells only part of the story of a player renowned for his court vision, impossible passes, and a basketball IQ that captivated fans around the world.
