On the Marina Bay street circuit, it was McLaren’s British driver Lando Norris who took the victory. In the iconic "night race" of the Singapore Grand Prix, McLaren showcased its recent progress. Norris crossed the finish line over twenty seconds ahead of reigning world champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull, who secured second place.
Norris’ teammate, Oscar Piastri, finished in third. The Mercedes duo of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton took fourth and sixth places, respectively. Ferrari made a comeback with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr. finishing fifth and seventh. Alexander Albon (Williams) and Kevin Magnussen (Haas F1 Team) were forced to retire.
It was a smooth race for Norris, who claimed his third victory of the season after winning in Miami and Zandvoort (Netherlands). Despite the significant lead over Verstappen, Norris had a couple of close calls, grazing the barriers twice. Nonetheless, the McLaren driver emerged unscathed and celebrated his win in Singapore. Fernando Alonso in his Aston Martin finished eighth, Nico Hulkenberg (Haas) ninth, and a disappointing Sergio Perez (Red Bull) rounded out the top ten.
In the standings, Verstappen remains at the top with 331 points, holding a 52-point lead over Norris (279). Leclerc is third with 245 points, followed by Piastri with 237. Sainz is fifth with 190 points. In the Constructors' Championship, McLaren extended their lead over Red Bull (516 to 456), with Ferrari in third place with 441 points. The Formula 1 World Championship resumes in a month with the United States Grand Prix in Austin.
