F1 heads to the United States for the sixth round of the 2025 season. Norris and Piastri lead the charge for McLaren, while Ferrari looks for answers

Formula 1 is back. After a one-week break, the championship resumes in Florida for the Miami Grand Prix, the sixth race on the 2025 calendar. Saturday will also feature the second Sprint Race of the season, following the one in China where Lewis Hamilton took both pole position and the sprint victory. The championship resumes with Oscar Piastri at the top of the standings, holding a 10-point lead over his McLaren teammate Lando Norris. Piastri currently has 99 points, Norris 89, followed by Max Verstappen with 87 and George Russell with 73.

Charles Leclerc, coming off his first podium of the season in Saudi Arabia, aims to continue climbing the standings. The Monegasque driver now sits at 47 points, ahead of Italy’s Kimi Antonelli on 38, and Lewis Hamilton, who remains on 31 points.

Ferrari is also chasing in the Constructors’ Championship. McLaren leads with a commanding 188 points, followed by Mercedes at 111 and Red Bull at 89—most of which have come from Verstappen. Ferrari is currently fourth with 78 points. Miami will offer crucial opportunities, with a maximum of 33 points available across the Sprint and the main race, including the 8 points awarded to the Sprint winner.

Though still trailing McLaren, Ferrari has shown signs of progress after a difficult start to the season. Leclerc and Hamilton are aiming to return to the podium and reduce the gap to the British team. The Miami weekend is expected to deliver key answers in this early phase of the championship.
