The Autodromo Nazionale di Monza will continue to host Formula 1 races until 2031, following the announcement of a new agreement between the Automobile Club d’Italia (ACI) and Formula 1. The deal includes a progressive investment plan, starting at €27 million annually and totaling approximately €200 million over the next seven years. This development is a major milestone for Italian motorsport, ensuring that one of the championship’s most iconic venues remains on the calendar.
Built in 1922, the Monza circuit is known as the "Temple of Speed," cherished by fans and drivers alike for its unique characteristics. Recently completed modernization work has secured the venue’s ability to host future events, reinforcing its prominence in the Formula 1 landscape. The 5.8-kilometer track allows drivers to push to the limit for 80% of a lap and holds the record for the fastest lap in Formula 1 history. Lewis Hamilton set the mark in 2020 with a pole position lap time of 1:18.887, achieving an average speed of 264.362 km/h.
Monza's continued presence is also a significant opportunity for Ferrari, poised to take on the future with a star-studded lineup. Starting next season, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton will join Charles Leclerc, bringing experience and competitiveness to the Maranello-based team as they aim to return Ferrari to the top. With its blend of tradition and high-octane action, Monza remains one of the most anticipated venues in Formula 1, delivering unforgettable moments to fans worldwide.
“I’m delighted that the Italian Grand Prix will remain on the calendar until 2031", said Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1. “Monza is the heart of Formula 1’s history, and the atmosphere here is unmatched, as fans gather in large numbers to cheer for Ferrari and the drivers. The recent infrastructure upgrades and planned investments demonstrate a strong commitment to the long-term future of Formula 1 in Italy. I would like to thank the President of the Automobile Club d’Italia, the Italian government, and the Lombardy region for their continued passion and dedication to our sport".
