Ivan Juric takes the reins at Roma: a challenge to stabilize the team and revive it after De Rossi’s dismissal

Roma is not experiencing a particularly calm period. The initial results in the league did not reward Daniele De Rossi's efforts, leading to his dismissal by the club after a 1-1 draw against Genoa in the 96th minute. Ivan Juric, coming off a positive stint at Torino, has stepped in to replace him. The Croatian coach faces a tough task: restoring calm within the team and among the fans.

The 49-year-old from Split has a playing career that includes stints with Hajduk Split, Sevilla, Albacete, Crotone, and Genoa. His best seasons were with the Calabrian side, where he helped the club rise from Serie C1 to Serie B. His time at Genoa allowed him to play in Serie A from 2007 until his retirement in 2010.

It was with Genoa's youth team that the former midfielder began his coaching career, achieving excellent results. A brief period at Inter and Palermo followed before he officially took charge of Mantova in Lega Pro in 2014. The following year, Crotone brought him back to lead the team in Serie B, where he achieved incredible results: promotion to Serie A.

His three years at Genoa were turbulent, with the team securing survival in 2016 in what was almost a miracle, followed by his dismissal in the next two seasons. Juric found his best years as a coach at Verona, achieving two strong finishes, ninth and tenth, between 2019 and 2021. He maintained similar standards during his three-year tenure at Torino before leaving the club in the summer of 2024.

Now, Juric faces a new and challenging opportunity in a passionate yet demanding environment like Roma.
