The seventh matchday in the Premier League did not bring significant changes at the top of the standings. The top three teams did their duty, securing three valuable points before the international break. Liverpool triumphed at Selhurst Park with a goal from Diogo Jota, sealing a win against Crystal Palace.
A comeback victory for Arteta's Arsenal, who were down by a goal against Southampton (Archer scored), ended with a 3-1 win thanks to Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, and Saka. Three goals also secured a win for Guardiola’s Manchester City at home against Fulham. The Cottagers took the lead with Andreas Pereira, but the Citizens turned it around with a brace from Kovacic and a final strike from Doku. Rodrigo Muniz's late goal was not enough (3-2).
On Sunday, draws with Nottingham Forest (1-1) and Aston Villa (0-0) slowed the progress of Chelsea and Manchester United, respectively. Tottenham fell 3-2 away to Brighton. Liverpool leads the table with 18 points, followed by Manchester City and Arsenal with 17 points each.
In Spain, Ancelotti's Real Madrid secured a home victory over Villarreal with goals from Valverde and Vinicius Jr., one in each half. It was smooth sailing for Barcelona under Flick, who handed Alavés a 3-0 defeat away, with an ageless Lewandowski netting a hat-trick. Atletico Madrid, led by Cholo Simeone, could only manage a 1-1 draw at Real Sociedad's Real Arena, with Sucic equalizing after Julian Alvarez's opener.
El Gran Derbi ended with Sevilla’s narrow 1-0 win over Betis, thanks to Lukebakio’s penalty. The gap at the top of the table remains unchanged, with Barcelona leading at 24 points and Real close behind with 21.
In the Bundesliga's sixth matchday, Leipzig took advantage of Bayern Munich's stumble, as the Bavarians were held to a 3-3 draw by a determined Eintracht Frankfurt. Bayern initially led through Kim, but the home side responded with goals from Marmoush and Ekitike. Upamecano made it 2-2, and in the second half, Olise restored Bayern's lead before Marmoush struck again to halt Kane and his teammates.
Rose's Leipzig did their part, defeating Heidenheim 1-0 with a goal from Openda, moving level with Bayern at 14 points at the top. Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen was held to a 2-2 draw by minnows Holstein Kiel (Boniface and Hofmann scored for the German champions, while Geschwill and Arp equalized). Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund fell 2-1 to Union Berlin (Vogt and Vertessen for the home side, Ryerson pulled one back for Dortmund).
The main highlight of the weekend came in France, where there was a change at the top of the Ligue 1 table. Monaco, under Hutter, now leads after a 2-1 win over Rennes at Roazhon Park, with goals from Kehrer and Balogun (Blas equalized temporarily for the Bretons), taking them to 19 points. They are two points ahead of Luis Enrique's Paris Saint-Germain, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Nice, with goals from Abdi and Nuno Mendes. De Zerbi’s Marseille also drew, 1-1 against bottom-side Angers, with goals from Rowe and El Melali.
