Berrettini starts in the second round, Musetti in Medvedev’s section. Paolini awaits her debut

The Indian Wells Masters 1000 kicks off the season’s major hard-court tournaments, with ten Italian players competing across the men's and women's draws. Matteo Berrettini, ranked 29th and seeded 28th, will begin his campaign in the second round against either Spain’s Roberto Carballes Baena (ATP 52) or Australia’s Christopher O'Connell (ATP 75). If he advances, a potential third-round clash against Stefanos Tsitsipas awaits, followed by possible matchups with Holger Rune in the round of 16 and Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals.

Lorenzo Musetti, the 15th seed, will also start in the second round, facing either Russian Roman Safiullin (ATP 69) or American Reilly Opelka (ATP 114). His section of the draw includes Casper Ruud and Daniil Medvedev, setting up tough potential encounters down the line. Flavio Cobolli (ATP 40) will face a qualifier in his opener, while Luca Nardi, who made headlines last year with his stunning victory over Novak Djokovic, will take on Britain’s Cameron Norrie (ATP 77) in the first round. Matteo Arnaldi (ATP 35) is set to face American Aleksandar Kovacevic, Lorenzo Sonego will meet Belgium’s David Goffin (ATP 56), and Luciano Darderi will battle Argentina’s Facundo Diaz Acosta (ATP 139).

On the women’s side, three Italians will compete for a deep run. Jasmine Paolini, ranked sixth in the world and seeded sixth, will enter in the second round against the winner of the match between American wild card Iva Jovic (WTA 157) and Austria’s Julia Grabher (WTA 388), who is playing with a protected ranking. Lucia Bronzetti (WTA 62) faces Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina (WTA 54) in the first round, while Elisabetta Cocciaretto (WTA 72) will take on Mexico’s Renata Zarazua (WTA 69) in her tournament debut.
