Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi have officially parted ways with Toronto FC, terminating their contracts and becoming free agents

Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi are no longer Toronto FC players. The two Italian internationals have mutually agreed to terminate their contracts, which were initially set to run until 2026. Their chapter in Canada is over, and a return to Europe now looks highly likely, with both players free to sign on a free transfer.

Insigne, who just turned 34, feels he still has plenty to offer at a high level, while Bernardeschi, at 31, remains in his prime. Both players started brightly in MLS but saw their relationship with the club deteriorate over time as the team struggled. Toronto currently sits second from bottom in the Eastern Conference with one of the worst attacks in the league. Insigne has scored just once in 2025, while Bernardeschi has netted four goals. Now, it’s time for a fresh start.

Parma are reportedly keen to bring Insigne back to Serie A, offering him a spot in attack as they look to bolster their frontline. Fiorentina are also monitoring the situation and could consider a move. For Bernardeschi, Bologna have shown interest and see him as a potential replacement if Dan Ndoye departs this summer.
