Both clubs have expressed their commitment to building the new stadium within the current San Siro grounds

The long-awaited breakthrough for Inter and Milan’s new stadium appears finally within reach. After years of waiting, discussions, and numerous delays, an agreement on a new stadium is moving forward, likely to be constructed in the San Siro area, which will be restructured for this purpose. The green light for the project also came from the Ministry of Culture, following a meeting in Rome attended by Inter and Milan executives, club owners, Milan’s mayor Beppe Sala, superintendent Emanuela Carpani, Minister of Culture Alessandro Giuli, and Minister of Sport Andrea Abodi.

As reported by the City of Milan, all parties expressed "appreciation and satisfaction" for the new project. The statement further noted that "the clubs will soon proceed with submitting a declaration of interest to continue the process." The agreement for a new stadium at San Siro, therefore, is drawing ever closer.

The project envisions a new stadium and the development of the surrounding areas, alongside plans for the adaptive reuse of the Meazza stadium. Milan president Paolo Scaroni expressed the club’s satisfaction after the meeting: “We’ve resolved the issue of preserving the stadium’s second tier, which had been a sticking point for months. We can build a new stadium in the San Siro area while retaining a structure that will replace the current stadium, including all or part of the second tier.” While this marks an initial step toward Inter and Milan’s new stadium, no timeline for construction has been discussed. Still, the turning point is finally near.
