It was a weekend full of twists in the Serie A title race. Inter made the most of a rain-soaked afternoon in Turin, beating Torino 2-0 despite resting many key players ahead of the Champions League final. Goals from Zalewski and Asllani allowed Inzaghi’s men to temporarily draw level with Napoli at the top — until the Partenopei dropped two crucial points in a frustrating 2-2 draw at home to Genoa.
At the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, Inter fielded a largely second-string lineup, with only Bisseck and Bastoni retained from the Champions League clash. Despite the heavy pitch and worsening weather, Zalewski opened the scoring with a moment of class, cutting inside and curling past Milinkovic-Savic. The downpour forced a temporary suspension, but play resumed after a brief delay.
The second half began late, and Inzaghi opted for further changes to avoid bookings. Dimarco immediately made an impact, setting up Taremi in the box, where Milinkovic brought him down. Asllani converted the penalty with composure. Correa was twice denied a third, and Masina’s spectacular overhead kick was ruled out in stoppage time due to a foul.
Meanwhile, Napoli failed to capitalize. Conte’s men took the lead through Lukaku, who latched onto a McTominay through ball to score his 13th league goal. But Genoa responded, first hitting the bar with Pinamonti and then equalizing through a freak own goal by Meret, deflecting a header from teenager Ahanor.
Napoli regained control in the second half, with Raspadori scoring a fine goal after yet another McTominay assist. But the hosts couldn’t hold on: Vasquez rose highest in the closing minutes to head home the equalizer, leaving the Maradona stunned. Conte was visibly frustrated: “We’ve used up our margin for error. They scored twice from very little — that’s what hurts.”
With two rounds to go, only one point separates Napoli and Inter. The title race is far from over.
