The Milan-based club have already reached a personal agreement with the Nigerian forward: a five-year contract worth €4 million net per season, taking advantage of Italy’s tax relief scheme for incoming athletes (“Decreto Crescita”). Technical director Cristian Chivu has also given the green light for Lookman’s addition to the frontline.
But Atalanta are not budging. The Bergamo side are demanding €50 million and are not inclined to compromise. They are also keeping the door open to Atletico Madrid, who remain attentive to the player's situation.
Despite the gap in valuations, Lookman is keen on the move to Inter. The player has been training regularly at Zingonia without causing any disruption or tension. However, a formal bid has yet to be officially submitted, and no agreement has been reached on potential transfer terms, such as a loan with obligation to buy.
Inter directors Giuseppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are pressing to finalise the deal this summer, even without first offloading any current attackers. Atalanta, for their part, are determined to maximise the sale, in line with their consistently firm approach on outgoing transfers.
