Victory in Como can’t stop Napoli’s triumph. Saudi Arabia and PSG chasing Simone Inzaghi

Inter’s 2-0 win at Como was supposed to be a coronation. Instead, it marked the end of a fading dream. For 22 fleeting minutes, after De Vrij’s opener, the Nerazzurri were virtually Serie A champions. But then came McTominay’s bicycle kick for Napoli, and with it, the title slipped away.

The final standings say it all: Napoli 82, Inter 81. A title lost not at Como, but in a season littered with missed chances and mental lapses. Inter fans applauded their team, but the pain of dropped points — from Genoa to Parma, from San Siro to Monza — lingers. The late penalty against Lazio, which cost them two vital points, was just the last blow.

Even a solid win against a 10-man Como (Reina sent off) couldn’t erase the sense of failure. Now, all focus shifts to the Champions League final against PSG in Munich. But uncertainty surrounds the future of Simone Inzaghi. PSG and Manchester United have shown interest, and Al-Hilal have offered him a staggering deal: over €30 million a season, with an option to return to Europe in 2026. Inter, backed by Oaktree, are offering a renewal worth €10 million.

“Inzaghi is the architect of our cycle,” said Marotta before the final whistle. But with the title gone, Inter’s bench suddenly feels a lot less stable.
