Juventus have wrapped up their first move in attack. In the early hours of Wednesday, the Bianconeri reached a verbal agreement with Jonathan David, the 24-year-old Canadian forward. Only minor details remain to be finalised in the coming hours.
The deal will see Juventus sign David on a free transfer, with the striker officially out of contract with Lille as of July 1. While the Bianconeri will not pay a transfer fee, the move is far from cost-free: Juventus will invest a significant sum covering signing bonuses and agent fees to secure the highly rated striker.
David will earn €6 million per season plus €2 million in bonuses. Juventus had agreed personal terms with the player some time ago but needed additional negotiations with his representatives, who eventually gave the green light to honour the player’s wish to join the Bianconeri.
David enjoyed a standout campaign last season, scoring 25 goals and providing 12 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.
