Atletico Madrid snatch a dramatic win in stoppage time to take the top spot. In Germany, Bayern and Leverkusen dominate the league.

Barcelona dominated possession, but Atletico Madrid emerged victorious in their direct clash over the weekend in La Liga. True to Diego Simeone’s signature style, the Colchoneros defended resiliently for 90 minutes before striking on the counterattack. Atletico came from behind after Pedri’s opener, with goals from Rodrigo De Paul and a decisive strike by Sorloth in the 96th minute. The win propels Griezmann and his teammates to the top of the La Liga standings with 41 points, one ahead of Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid. Real crushed Sevilla 4-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu, with goals from Mbappé, Valverde, Rodrygo, and former Milan player Brahim Diaz.

Barcelona, managed by Hansi Flick, drop to third place, three points behind Atletico and with one game more played than the two Madrid sides. Athletic Bilbao remain in the race with 36 points, securing a 2-1 victory over Osasuna to open up a six-point gap over fifth-place Villarreal and Mallorca.

In the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen are pulling away from the rest of the league. Both teams secured emphatic 5-1 victories over Leipzig and Freiburg, respectively. Vincent Kompany’s Leverkusen now lead the table with 36 points, while reigning champions Bayern Munich trail closely with 32.

The chasing pack is further behind, led by Eintracht Frankfurt and Leipzig, both on 27 points and firmly in the Champions League spots. Frankfurt, however, suffered a 3-1 home loss to Mainz. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund revived their campaign with a 3-1 win away at Wolfsburg, climbing to 25 points and closing in on fourth place.
