Lazio-Napoli lived up to expectations. The marquee match at the Olimpico delivered the first major shock of the 2024-2025 Coppa Italia: Antonio Conte's team is already out of the competition, defeated 3-1 by the Biancocelesti. The hosts secured victory thanks to Noslin's sensational hat-trick, overshadowing Giovanni "Cholito" Simeone's temporary equalizer for Napoli.
The game began with a missed penalty by Baroni's Lazio, as Caprile denied Zaccagni in a crucial moment around the 20th minute. The first key episode unfolded with a lightning-fast Lazio counterattack, where Caprile was late to challenge Pedro and brought him down. Captain Zaccagni stepped up to take the spot-kick, only for Napoli’s goalkeeper to make a decisive save. Lazio, however, kept pressing and broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute. A corner from the left by Tchaouna was headed on by Gigot, allowing Noslin to tap in the opening goal.
Conte’s Napoli responded immediately. Just four minutes later, in the 36th minute, Simeone leveled the score at 1-1, capitalizing on a deflection from Mandas after a dangerous diagonal strike from David Neres. The match exploded into life, and within five minutes, Lazio reclaimed the lead at 2-1, courtesy of Noslin once again.
The former Verona star punished Caprile after an excellent run by Zaccagni and a clever backheel assist from Pedro, who was once again a driving force for Lazio. Early in the second half, Noslin completed his hat-trick, effectively sealing the match. This time, he connected with a pinpoint cross from Zaccagni and headed home to make it 3-1.
Baroni's Lazio now advances to the Coppa Italia quarterfinals, where they will face the winner of the Inter-Udinese clash. For Conte’s Napoli, the focus shifts solely to the league.
