Selected as the 55th pick in the 2024 Draft, Bronny will have the opportunity to showcase his skills alongside his father in the world's most famous and competitive basketball league. A playmaker born in 2004, Bronny played in the NCAA for the USC Trojans, one of the oldest private universities in the United States. His solid performances and spectacular plays, reminiscent of his father's, will need to prove he belongs in the NBA.
Bronny's journey is particularly notable due to a cardiac arrest he suffered a year ago, collapsing during a training session. This near-tragic event caused him to drop in the Draft rankings, despite projections initially placing him among the top ten picks. After receiving medical clearance in May 2024, he became eligible for the NBA. Fate had it that his father's team, the Lakers, would select him.
The upcoming season will thus mark the first regular season where father and son James will play for the same franchise. LeBron, who will turn forty at the end of December, will be entering his twenty-second year in the NBA. This longevity ties the record held by Vince Carter, who played from 2000 to 2022.
In the 2023-2024 season, LeBron became the first player in NBA history to surpass both 39,000 and 40,000 career points in the regular season. Among other achievements, he was the second oldest player to record a triple-double (at 38 years and 320 days) after Karl Malone and the oldest to reach the final of the inaugural In-Season Tournament.
The Lakers' regular season ended in the first round of the playoffs. They secured their playoff spot by defeating the New Orleans Pelicans in the Play-In Tournament. However, they were eliminated by the Denver Nuggets in a 4-1 series. Against Jokic and his team, LeBron averaged nearly 28 points per game, surpassing 30 points in two of the games.
Currently, LeBron James is participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics with Team USA, aiming to secure the third Olympic gold medal of his career.
