The second matchday of Lega Basket Serie A is complete. Five teams are currently at the top of the standings with 4 points: Trento, Brescia, Tortona, Virtus Bologna, and Trieste. This round saw several away victories. Newly promoted Trapani and Trieste made statements by winning on the road at Treviso’s PalaVerde and Napoli’s PalaBarbuto.
After their opening win against Reggio Emilia, Trento secured their second consecutive victory against Venezia (82-70). Standout performances for coach Paolo Galbiati’s team came from Myles Cale, who scored 23 points, former Scafati player Anthony Lamb (18), Quin Ellis (15), and Jordan Ford with 10 points. On Venezia's side, Aamir Simms shined with 20 points, supported by Davide Moretti (15) and Mfiondu Kabengele (12).
Trapani, after nearly upsetting Virtus Bologna in their opener, secured their first top-tier win in 32 years by defeating Treviso away, 71-87. Coach Jasmin Repesa’s Sharks were led by a stellar John Petrucelli with 18 points, while Amar Alibegovic added 13, and Justin Robinson and Akwasi Yeboah contributed 10 each. For Treviso, Ky Bowman stood out with 22 points, while JP Macura, formerly of Tortona, chipped in 11.
Tortona claimed a 10-point away victory over Varese (95-105). It was Varese’s second consecutive loss, as coach Walter De Raffaele’s team capitalized on an extraordinary performance from Tommy Kuhse, who dropped 31 points. Christian Vital followed with 18 points, while Arturs Strautins and Ismail Kamagate both added 12, and Kyle Weems scored 11. For Varese, Niccolò Mannion had a massive 32-point game, Jaylen Hands scored 16, and both Davide Alviti and Justin Gray tallied 11 points each.
Trieste continued their impressive start as the newly promoted side followed up their win against Milano with another road victory in Campania against Napoli. Coach Christian Jamion’s squad pulled ahead with 29 points from Markel Brown, 17 from Denzel Valentine, 14 from Jarrod Uthoff, and 10 from Colbey Ross. For Napoli, Leonardo Totè led with 18 points, Zach Copeland scored 14, Kevin Pangos added 13, Kaspar Treier 12, and Charles Manning Jr. 11.
Brescia earned two crucial points on the road against Scafati. For Germani, Nikola Ivanovic and Amedeo Della Valle both scored 23 points, with Miro Bilan contributing 16 and Demetre Rivers adding 15. Scafati’s standout was former Brindisi player Kruize Pinkins, who scored 30 points.
Milano reached 100 points in a 100-75 win over Sassari. Coach Ettore Messina’s reigning champions earned their first league win after losing the opener to Trieste. Nikola Mirotic and Zack Leday led the way with 15 points each, followed by Diego Flaccadori with 13, Stefano Tonut with 12, and Nenad Dimitrijevic with 10. For Sassari, Brian Fobbs scored 24 points, while Eimantas Bendzius added 14 and Miralem Halilovic 13.
Reggio Emilia secured a 74-77 road win against Cremona. After a tightly contested game, overtime proved decisive. Reggio Emilia came out on top with Jamar Smith scoring 21 points, Cassis Winston adding 15, and Mouhamed Faye contributing 14. For Cremona, Corey David led with 23 points, while Paul Eboua added 14.
The weekend wrapped up with Virtus Bologna's home win over Pistoia (84-68), making it two wins in two games after their close victory in Sicily against Trapani. Coach Luca Banchi’s team was led by Isaia Cordinieri’s 16 points, with Marco Belinelli and Rayion Tucker each adding 12. For Pistoia, Michael Forrest scored 16 points, Karlis Silins added 15, and Maverick Lewis RoWan chipped in 11.
