The latest weekend of Ligue 1 and Bundesliga action brought favorable results for Marseille, Monaco, and Bayern Munich. The French title race remains open as Paris Saint-Germain was held to a draw at Auxerre, allowing its two closest challengers to close within five points of Luis Enrique’s side.
Roberto De Zerbi’s Olympique Marseille secured a 2-0 win at Saint-Etienne, with former Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot and Greenwood finding the net. Meanwhile, AS Monaco triumphed 2-0 at home against Toulouse, thanks to goals from former Torino defender Singo and Embolo.
Lille also earned a crucial win, beating Brest 3-1 with a brace from Canadian striker Jonathan David. Lyon cruised to a 3-0 victory at Angers, keeping both teams in the hunt for Champions League qualification alongside Marseille and Monaco.
In the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich is already pulling away from the pack. The Bavarians secured a 4-2 win over Heidenheim despite missing Harry Kane due to injury. Jamal Musiala stepped up, scoring twice to lead Kompany’s side. Bayern is now six points clear of Eintracht Frankfurt, which was held to a 2-2 home draw by Augsburg.
Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen remains seven points behind after clinching its third straight Bundesliga victory, defeating St. Pauli 2-1 with goals from Wirtz and Tah. RB Leipzig also returned to winning ways with a road victory over Kiel.
Meanwhile, Borussia Monchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund played out a 1-1 draw. Dortmund is currently outside the Champions League spots, tied on points with Wolfsburg and Freiburg, three points behind fourth-placed Leipzig and a daunting 12 points adrift of league leaders Bayern Munich. The Bavarians are firmly in control of the title race.
