Luna Rossa and Ineos Britannia ended the first day of the Louis Vuitton Cup final in a tie, with one victory each. In the first race, Team Prada Pirelli, with Checco Bruni and James Spithill at the helm, Andrea Tesei and Umberto Molineris as trimmers, and cyclors Bruno Rosetti, Enrico Voltolini, Emanuele Liuzzi, and Cesare Gabbia, dominated from the start thanks to an excellent launch and technical errors by Ineos, finishing with a 46-second lead.
The second race was more closely contested. Team Prada replaced Liuzzi and Gabbia with Luca Kirwan and Paolo Simion, but Ineos took a slight early lead. Despite Luna Rossa's efforts to catch up, Ineos maintained their lead, winning by 18 seconds.
After a break on Friday, the races will resume today and tomorrow, with additional dates set for October 1st, 2nd, and 4th. The final, a best-of-13 series, will crown the first team to achieve seven victories, earning the right to challenge New Zealand in the America’s Cup, scheduled from October 12th to 27th in Barcelona. It will be a fierce battle between Luna Rossa and Ineos, with the British team determined to avenge their 7-1 defeat to the Italian catamaran three years ago.
