The Australian extends his championship lead with a clinical drive. Ferrari off the pace: Leclerc seventh, Hamilton eighth and frustrated

Oscar Piastri continues to shine in the 2025 Formula 1 season, claiming a commanding win at the Miami Grand Prix. The McLaren driver delivered a masterful performance, marked by patience, precision, and strategic brilliance, to take his third straight victory and build a 16-point lead over teammate Lando Norris in the standings.

Starting fourth, Piastri made the most of early chaos between Norris and Max Verstappen. After overtaking Kimi Antonelli and later Verstappen himself, the 24-year-old took the lead and never looked back. “This was the race I really wanted to win,” said Piastri, now with six career victories to his name.

Norris salvaged second place, unable to mount a serious challenge for the win after his slow start. George Russell completed the podium, benefiting from a timely pit stop during a virtual safety car period. Verstappen, lacking the pace to keep up with the McLarens, had to settle for fourth.

Kimi Antonelli impressed early but was ultimately overtaken by Alex Albon, who claimed fifth in an excellent showing for Williams. Antonelli finished sixth, a result that still marks another step forward in his rookie season.

It was a forgettable weekend for Ferrari. Leclerc and Hamilton finished seventh and eighth respectively, after a quiet first half of the race. The tension rose in the final laps: after passing Carlos Sainz, Hamilton requested to overtake Leclerc but failed to pull away. The team ordered him to give the place back, prompting a sharp response from the British driver: “Should I let Sainz through as well?”

With McLaren flying and internal tension simmering, Ferrari leaves Miami with more questions than answers.
