Jessica Pegula has advanced to the semifinals of the Miami Open after edging out Emma Raducanu in a hard-fought three-setter. The No. 4 seed triumphed 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-2 at Hard Rock Stadium, recovering strongly after dropping the second set in a tiebreak.
Pegula’s next opponent will be Alexandra Eala, the 19-year-old sensation from the Philippines who shocked world No. 2 Iga Swiatek in the previous round. Eala, ranked No. 140, is making her debut at this level and has quickly become the tournament’s biggest story.
The other semifinal will feature Jasmine Paolini and world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, a showdown between two of the most in-form players on tour.
Meanwhile, on the men’s side, the highly anticipated quarterfinal between Novak Djokovic and Sebastian Korda has been postponed due to ATP regulations prohibiting matches from starting after 11 PM. Originally scheduled for late Wednesday night local time, the match was delayed because earlier contests ran long.
“Following ATP rules that prohibit matches from starting after 11 PM, the Djokovic vs. Korda match has been rescheduled for Thursday and will be the third match of the day,” read the tournament’s official statement.
The regulation was introduced after the controversial late-night match involving Jannik Sinner at the 2023 Paris Masters, which ended at 2:25 AM and led to his withdrawal the following day.
