After securing Luka Modrić and Samuele Ricci, AC Milan are closing in on their third signing of the summer. Talks with Brighton for Pervis Estupiñán are in the final stages, with just the final agreement missing before the transfer is sealed. The Ecuador international is set to become Milan’s new starting left-back, taking over from Theo Hernandez, who recently moved to Al Hilal.
Aged 27, Estupiñán still has much to prove and will join the Rossoneri for a €18 million fee plus bonuses. The former Villarreal defender is expected to sign a four-year contract worth €2.5 million per season.
Massimiliano Allegri knows the player well. During his time on the Juventus bench, he faced Estupiñán's Villarreal in the Champions League round of 16, a tie that ended with Juve’s elimination and Estupiñán playing both legs. Now, years later, the two are set to work together at San Siro.
A key figure in the negotiation was super-agent Jorge Mendes, who facilitated talks between Milan and Brighton. Estupiñán had already reached a personal agreement with the Rossoneri and made it clear he wanted to join Allegri’s project in Milan.
