It’s the end of an era. Following Real Madrid’s exit from the Club World Cup, Luka Modric has announced his departure from the club. “It’s hard to describe how I feel, there are so many mixed emotions”, the Croatian midfielder said. “An unforgettable, glorious, and successful chapter comes to an end. What I’ve experienced here brings me immense joy. What I achieved here makes me very proud. Real Madrid made me grow both as a player and as a person. This club has given me everything in football, and I will be grateful for it for the rest of my life. I will always be a Madridista. It has been a long, unforgettable journey. Madrid and Spain are now my second home. I leave happy, knowing that with time, I will realise even more the magnitude of what I accomplished here, because I will need time to process all these emotions and everything I’ve achieved”.
A lifetime in the camiseta blanca. Thirteen seasons at Madrid, with a trophy cabinet overflowing: six Champions League titles, five Club World Cups, five UEFA Super Cups, one Intercontinental Cup, four La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey, and five Spanish Super Cups, for a total of 28 trophies.
Now, Modric says goodbye to the Bernabéu and is set to become a Milan player. San Siro is already waiting.
