The GoPro Grand Prix of Aragon starts today and runs until Sunday, September 1st, at the MotorLand in Alcañiz, Spain, marking the beginning of a crucial phase in the MotoGP championship. Leading the standings is Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team, 275 points), closely followed by Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing, 270 points), just five points behind. Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team, 214 points) sits in third place but remains a contender for the title.
This season has been dominated by Ducati, with the top three riders consistently setting the pace on the track. Marc Marquez, currently fourth in the standings, rides the Desmosedici GP23 for Gresini Racing and is eager to make up ground on a circuit where he holds the record with five victories. Behind him, Maverick Viñales with Aprilia (139 points) and the KTM riders Brad Binder (128 points) and Pedro Acosta (125 points) round out the main challengers.
After a year’s absence from the calendar, Aragon returns to host MotoGP, with Marquez - who boasts the most wins on this track - seeking redemption. However, the last two editions have been dominated by Italian riders: Pecco Bagnaia claimed victory in 2021, while Enea Bastianini took the top spot in 2022. This race also serves as a prelude to the double header at Misano, scheduled for September.
