Following Marc Marquez's double victory with Gresini Racing at Aragon and the San Marino GP, MotoGP returns to the Misano World Circuit (Emilia-Romagna GP) for the fourteenth round of the World Championship. Misano hasn't hosted two Grands Prix in the same MotoGP season since 2021.
Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac) leads the standings with 312 points, thanks to 2 victories and 9 podium finishes. Right behind him is Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) with 305 points. Marc Marquez (259 points) must defend his third place while keeping an eye on Elia Bastianini (250 points) closing in.
A fierce battle for the title is expected between Martin and Pecco Bagnaia, with the Spaniard failing to capitalize on the gift handed to him by the two-time world champion (2022, 2023 in MotoGP) in Aragon. At Misano 1, Martin's strategic error cost him dearly, with over twenty points advantage evaporating.
This has made the title race more thrilling than ever. Over the last eight Grands Prix at Misano, Spanish riders have claimed five victories, with three wins by Italians. Marc Marquez (Honda) triumphed in 2019, Morbidelli (Yamaha) won in 2020, and Ducati's Bagnaia dominated in 2021 and 2022. Jorge Martin has secured three victories, before Marquez's win two weeks ago.
This weekend, MotoGP returns to the Misano circuit. Sunday's schedule, which follows the usual program, has been moved up by an hour to avoid clashing with the Singapore Formula 1 race, which starts at 14:00 European time. The top class race will now begin at 13:00, preceded by Moto3 at 10:00 and Moto2 at 11:15.
