The Italian champion is ready to get back on track for the 13th race of the season, aiming to close the gap to Jorge Martin

The MotoGP season resumes this weekend with the 13th round at the 2024 San Marino Grand Prix. All eyes are on Francesco "Pecco" Bagnaia and his Ducati as he seeks to bounce back from the crash at the Aragon GP last weekend.

With six laps remaining, Bagnaia attempted an outside pass on Alex Marquez. While initially successful, the Catalan rider's attempt to regain his position resulted in a collision. Fortunately, Bagnaia escaped without serious injury, managing to finish the race but seeing his points deficit to Spain's Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) grow to 23 points.

Martin, 26, leads the riders' standings with 299 points, followed by Bagnaia at 276. Enea Bastianini, another Ducati rider, is third with 217 points, while Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing) is fourth with 204 points.

San Marino offers Bagnaia a chance for redemption after winning the MotoGP world titles in 2022 and 2023. The weekend kicks off today with free practice sessions across all three categories. MotoGP pre-qualifying will wrap up the day, starting at 14:55.

Tomorrow will see the qualifying sessions, with the MotoGP Sprint scheduled for the afternoon at the same time. On Sunday, September 8, the 2024 San Marino GP will begin at 14:00, preceded by the Moto3 and Moto2 races. Sky subscribers and Now streaming platform users can watch the races live on Sky Sport Uno and Sky Sport MotoGP channels.

For those watching on TV8, the entire MotoGP weekend will be available free-to-air, including live coverage of the qualifying and Sprint on Saturday afternoon, and the main race on Sunday.
