After 25 years, Southeast Asia will kick off the 2025 and 2026 seasons: Chang International Circuit in Buriram to host the first GPs

For the first time in over 25 years, the MotoGP World Championship will begin in Southeast Asia. The Thailand Grand Prix will serve as the inaugural event for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, bringing the premier motorcycle racing series to the Chang International Circuit in Buriram from February 28 to March 2, 2025.

Since the debut of the Thailand Grand Prix in 2018, the Buriram circuit has hosted four editions, attracting over 800,000 fans who have experienced the thrill of MotoGP live. Now, Thai spectators will have the unique opportunity to witness the season-opening round, a milestone event for the country.

"Being the first event of the season brings significant advantages," stated Gongsak Yodmani, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand. "This will allow us to leverage a world-class sporting event to stimulate the economy and generate substantial revenue, in line with our sports tourism promotion strategy. The 2025 season will be particularly exciting for MotoGP fans due to significant team changes among the riders, making the season's start even more thrilling".

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports, expressed great satisfaction with this decision: "We are thrilled to announce that the Thailand Grand Prix will open the 2025 and 2026 seasons. Southeast Asia is one of our most important markets, both from a sporting perspective and for our manufacturers and partners. Thailand plays a central role in this context, and the enthusiasm of local fans, demonstrated every year in Buriram, will help create an incredible atmosphere for the season opener".
