Napoli are serious about bolstering Antonio Conte’s frontline and have zeroed in on Darwin Núñez. The 26-year-old forward, coming off a somewhat inconsistent season at Liverpool, has already expressed his willingness to join the Azzurri — a crucial step that has prompted Napoli’s management to accelerate talks with the Premier League club.
However, Liverpool are not keen to let one of their record signings go on the cheap. The Reds are asking for a fee in the range of €50–70 million. Napoli, on the other hand, are aiming to secure a deal at a more favourable figure, possibly around €43–50 million.
It’s an ambitious move, one that clearly signals Conte’s desire to build his new Napoli around a high-calibre striker. Meanwhile, the club continues to monitor alternative options in case negotiations for Núñez hit a snag. Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca remains the most realistic and affordable Plan B.
