The second Sunday of Serie A has wrapped up, with only Cagliari-Como and Verona-Juventus left to play. After Fonseca's Milan lost to Parma and Lazio fell to Udinese, there were more surprises in yesterday's matches.
The only top team to meet expectations was Antonio Conte's Napoli. Making their debut at the Maradona, the Azzurri quickly put behind them the heavy 3-0 loss in Verona by easily defeating Bologna. Awaiting the arrival of Lukaku and the final reinforcements, Kvara took center stage, scoring a goal and providing a brilliant assist for Di Lorenzo's opening goal. The final 3-0 scoreline was sealed by substitute Simeone, who scored off an assist from David Neres, making an immediate impact in his debut for Napoli.
De Rossi's Roma, on the other hand, stumbled again. The enthusiasm at the Olimpico for Paulo Dybala's stay quickly turned to boos after 90 minutes against Empoli. Gyasi and Colombo, the latter scoring from a penalty, secured a 2-1 victory for the Tuscans. Roma's late assaults and Shomurodov's goal off the bench were not enough, leaving De Rossi's side with just one point from their first two matches.
Atalanta under Gasperini also fell, losing to Torino. Ilic and newcomer Che Adams scored for Torino, but the standout player was Milinkovic-Savic. The goalkeeper saved Pasalic's penalty in stoppage time, securing three points for Vanoli's team after Retegui's opening goal.
Palladino's Fiorentina also faltered, managing only a 0-0 draw at the Franchi against newly promoted Venezia. Tonight, Thiago Motta's Juventus will have the chance to take the lead in the standings with a win.
