England at risk of missing direct promotion to League A. Romania on fire in League C, perfect record maintained

The international break and the Nations League window for European countries have officially come to an end. Italy stands out as one of the positive protagonists in this week of matches across leagues A to D. The Azzurri drew 2-2 at the Stadio Olimpico against Belgium and won 4-1 in Udine against Israel, maintaining their lead in the group with a six-point cushion over the Belgians. Just one point in the next away match will be enough to secure a spot in the quarterfinals. France follows behind with nine points, having secured two victories this week against Belgium and Israel.

Germany and Spain have already secured qualification, topping their respective groups and coming off two wins, against Bosnia, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Serbia. The Oranje will face a decisive match against Hungary, which is also critical for the relegation battle. Similarly, Serbia will take on Switzerland, who are all but confirmed to finish last in group 4. Portugal comfortably leads their group ahead of Poland, Croatia, and Scotland.

In league B, England’s second place in group 2 is causing a stir. Their next match is against leaders Greece, who won 1-2 at Wembley in the first leg. Turkey only needs to avoid defeat at home against Wales to secure the top spot and promotion to league A.

Three teams are vying for the top spot in group 3 over two action-packed matchdays: Norway, Austria, and Slovenia. In group 1, the race for promotion and the relegation battle are still wide open. Georgia, following two consecutive defeats, must be cautious. The Czech Republic currently leads the group, with Albania and Ukraine trailing behind.

Romania is on fire in league C, almost certain of promotion to league B despite Kosovo's nine points. North Macedonia is dominating group 4, ahead of Armenia, Latvia, and the Faroe Islands. The key match in group 3 for promotion in the next window will be Northern Ireland vs. Belarus. Sweden and Slovakia will face off for the top spot at the Scandinavians’ home ground in group 1, while Azerbaijan vs. Estonia is the match to avoid relegation.

In league D, it's a two-horse race between Moldova and Malta for promotion to league C. Gibraltar leads its group ahead of San Marino and Liechtenstein.
