The NBA is becoming increasingly lucrative. The business of the American professional league is growing year by year, and consequently, so are the salaries of its stars. During the off-season and the NBA market, newly crowned champion Jayson Tatum secured the richest contract ever in the league: $314 million over 5 years starting from the 2025/26 season for the Boston Celtics star.
This is the most significant among a series of major renewals this summer. Denver Nuggets star Jamal Murray extended his contract, reaching $209 million. A massive renewal also came for Donovan Mitchell with the Cleveland Cavaliers, signing a maximum salary three-year deal worth $150.5 million.
Pascal Siakam, on the other hand, renewed with Indiana, signing a four-year contract worth $190 million. Another maximum salary extension went to Scottie Barnes, who with Toronto will earn up to $270 million in total. The Detroit Pistons secured Cade Cunningham with a new $226 million contract, and the New York Knicks gave OG Anunoby a hefty renewal worth $213 million.
Bam Adebayo signed a three-year deal for $166 million with Miami, while Malik Monk inked a four-year, $78 million contract, including a player option, to stay with the Sacramento Kings. Lastly, James Harden also signed a significant deal, renewing with the Clippers for $70 million over the next two years.
